TAFE Facilities

TAFE Institutes have a range of well-equipped and well-maintained modern facilities for students to achieve their goals and better performance. With TAFE study options you can design your study to suit your needs. There are full time or part time courses available. Attendance per week is between 12-30 hours.
OTEN (Open Training and Education Network) offers distance education, so you can study away from the TAFE campus.

TAFE Initiatives

TAFE runs many courses to help unemployed people get into or return to the workforce. People from a non-English speaking background are welcome, and will find excellent TAFE courses and services such as English language skills development to help them with their studies if they require them. Teacher consultants are available to assist people with disabilities complete their studies.
Most TAFE Institutes have Women’s Strategy Officers who can offer advice about the services available to assist women students.

TAFE COURSES

Australia is number one in vocational education and training. Students can go directly into a career or use your vocational studies as a pathway to university. In Australia’s training institutions you will gain career focused skills that are high in value and in demand with employers.


Vocational courses are designed to be an independent and active learner both in the classroom and in the work environment. There are a diverse range of courses available, such as:

Education offered at TAFE is from Certificates I – IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. All the qualifications offered by TAFE will prepare you for further education or for your job.

Certificate I (Duration 4 to 6 months)

Certificate I is designed to meet the requirements for employment related skills, such as induction courses, specific work place skills, preparatory for further education and participation skills.

Certificate II (Duration 6 to 8 months)

Certificate II designed to provide you with knowledge and skills activities in a defined variety of circumstances with a limited range of options. Quality of the task completed will depend upon you and some applications include some non customary activities as in individual responsibility with others as part of a team.

Certificate III (Duration 12 months)

After completing Certificate III students will possess in-depth knowledge and competencies that cover choosing, making suitable yourself and putting your knowledge and skills to a new environment. Students need to exercise some of their judgment and discretion to choose equipment and contingency measures with in the time limits. Taking responsibility of others and working with in the groups and team coordination may be required.

Certificate IV (Duration 12 to 18 months)

Students who want to do Certificate IV have to be prepared to be able to demonstrate leadership and supervise others as well as yourself, you will be expected to contribute to solving technical solutions of a non occurring or possibility of an unpredictable event happening.

You have to demonstrate that you have some organizational skills, showing leadership and accepting responsibility for your actions, evaluating and analysing current skills current practices.

Diploma (Duration 18 to 24 months)

Students who finish a Diploma will be self capable about the knowledge and skills application, judgment in some areas of planning and choosing the right equipment, services and techniques. Students will be involved in a few strategic techniques which will develop their personal responsibility, organizing others and carrying out complex operations. Students may have to work in a group, taking part in routine work, planning and evaluating projects. This study involves deep and intricate planning and initiation of other proposed approaches to skills and knowledge application process across a diverse range of technical and management requirements, evaluation and coordination.

Advance Diploma (Duration 2 to 3 years)

In Advance Diploma students will learn to be accountable and take responsibility for yourself and others achieving their set goals. Students will learn how to apply a very important diverse range of fundamental principles and techniques, in a situation where there is a variety of unpredictable situations in highly specific or varied functions.
This study involves:

  7. 7. Evaluation

Vocational Graduate Certificate

The students will achieve self development and become accomplished to a great extent in specialised areas of skills and building skills on prior knowledge and skills. Students will learn how to apply a very important diverse range of fundamental principles and techniques, in a situation where there is a variety of unpredictable situations in highly specific or varied functions. Quality Assurance

Registered Training Programs (RTO):
State and Territory Accrediting and Registering
bodies. All VET providers must be registered with RTO.


Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF):
National Accrediting body. All VET
providers provide evidence with the AQTF Standards.


Australian National Training Authority (ANTA):
Australian national authority gives
advice on the quality issues to the Australian government.


Australian Council of Independent Vocational Colleges (ACIVC):
ACIVC is the private
body for private vocational colleges in Australia, which provides business and
business related courses. It operates its own tuition assurance scheme which guarantees
that students get their study or tuition for which they are enrolled in.


Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS):
Students on a study visa are
covered by the consumer and financial protections of the Education Services for
Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000.
