Higher Education Qualifications

The following qualifications are available at Australian Universities and other approved higher
education providers.

Associate Degree (Duration 2 years)

Associate degree is a Diploma Lead to Degree and is a two year qualification following year 12 or equivalent or certificate III and IV. It is designed for students to gain a pathway into the Bachelor Degree for further and professional preparation or make a clear pathway into the Advanced Diploma for Specialist Industry.

Diploma Lead to Degree qualification is offered by universities and institutions which meet a prescribed standard for higher education providers, TAFEs and private institutions that meet specific requirements.

Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Degree Honors (Duration 3 & 4)

It is the main basic requirement to gain entry into the professions. Some trades or professions require additional vocational education. The study involves;

Bachelor degree course content is to a significant depth and is developed to a higher level.

Bachelor degree with Honours, generally students have to do an extra year after their Bachelor degree.

Graduate Certificate (Duration 6 months)

In graduate diploma students gain extra individual skills they already achieved in their bachelor degree or gain new skills in a professional area.

Graduate Diploma (Duration 12 months)

Graduate diploma is designed for the students to gain extra individual skills they already achieved in their bachelor degree or gain new skills in a professional area. Graduate diploma can be used for the specialisation in an arranged and logically connected body of knowledge.

Masters Degree (Duration 1-2 years)

The Masters Degree is generally gained by the research or course work. Students in Masters Degree gain extensive knowledge of the particular area of the course by student’s independent research.

Doctorate Degree (Duration 3 years)

Doctorate degree is the highest degree offered by any university in Australia. Students can gain Doctorate degree in three ways:

  • Students scrutinize their extensive research into a specific section of the case work. Their extensive research resulting in a very important contribution to knowledge and understanding or the application of knowledge into their field of case work or study.
  • A review of the literature by the students. They experiment and undertake a different proposal to the body of knowledge.
  • Students prepare a very extensive research thesis. Students show to be true by reasoning or adducing evidence the relationship of the research to the great extent to the concepts of the their field of study.
